Dental Careers Foundation Radiology career training program is designed to provide you with the education, training and experience you need to qualify for entry-level positions in this exciting field.
Radiology Requirements + Class
To legally take x-rays in Indiana, a dental assistant must have their Radiology license. DCF can help you complete the three steps required by the state to get your Radiology license:
1. You must attend a State Board of Health Dental Radiology program. We are an approved Radiology program.
2. A dentist must verify that you are proficient in Radiology by submitting a state form. When you test to our accepted standard, our Dr. will sign and submit the required Certificate of Proficiency on your behalf.
3. You must pass the DANB Dental Radiology exam. Our course will work to prepare students to successfully complete the national test. (You are not allowed to take the test unless you complete steps 1 + 2.)
Dental Radiology is part of the ten week Chairside Dental Assisting Program.
Radiology Course for Established Dental Assistants
This course is designed for established Dental Assistants who do not have their state Radiology license. Our Radiology Pre-Licensing Course will fulfill the requirements to take the DANB Radiology test.
The course is offered on three consecutive Fridays, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in our practicing dental office. The course is both classroom and clinical and is taught by our Dentist and experienced Expanded Duty Dental Assistant. It includes the required state training on radiation safety, quality of care and proper radiation technique.
Radiology classes can be held on Fridays and Saturdays depending on the time of the year.
The cost of the Radiology Course is $695 and includes all textbooks and materials. Payments plans are available through DCF.
